A once free press in love

In connection with the previous post, I though readers might find the following quote from Bernard Goldberg in his new book, A Slobbering Love Affair, documenting the US media's passionate love affair with their new President of interest:

"Never in my memory were so many journalists so intent on effecting change as they were during the campaign of 2008. Sure, mainstream journalists always root for the Democrat. But this time it was different. This time journalists were not satisfied merely being partisan witnesses to history. This time they wanted to be real players and help determine the outcome. This time they were on a mission, a noble, historic mission, as far as they were concerned. In fact, I could not remember a time when so many supposedly objective reporters had acted so blatantly as full-fledged advocates for one side - and without even a hint of embarrassment.

... Make no mistake: this is not the same old liberal bias we have witnessed for years. In 2008, the mainstream media crossed a line. As a result, their credibility is in tatters. Hardly anyone trusts them anymore. This is not good for them, of course. But it may be even worse for us."

Thanks again, Sarah

It has long been observed across the pond that the MSM creates certain 'gods' and 'devils.'

BHO is the latest of the 'gods.' His predecessors include FDR, the Kennedys, Ghandi, Mandela, Princess Diana, Elvis, the Beatles, Michael King (aka Martin Luther King, according to an illegal alias), Madonna, Britney, Jesse Jackson, OJ Simpson, Bedroom Bill and Hillary, 'Hanoi' Jane Fonda, Gene Robinson, Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton etc.

'Devils' past and present include Senator Jesse Helms, Governor George Wallace, Arthur Jensen (definitive, statistically rigorous studies on Black vs. White intelligence), Billy Sunday (early 20th century Methodist revivalist preacher and outstanding anti-liquor crusader), David Duke (public thorn in integrationist sides for many years), Jerry Falwell (Moral Majority), William Shockley (co-inventor of the solid state transistor and also distinguished researcher into Black vs. White intelligence), Dr Ian Paisley (on both sides of the Atlantic), the late Mrs Mary Whitehouse and our own BNP Chairman Nick Griffin.

Even a cursory glance at the careers of the above will provide further insight into the MSM's criteria for sainthood, or otherwise.

And therefore into the true nature of the MSM itself.

P.S. It appears that 10 have now been charged for the attack on Joseph Lappin and his fellow cadet. I guess odds of 5:1 is fairly typical in these instances.

What this writer says of the MSM is entirely true; I have never previously seen such open, unabashed bias in the media in all my years. They were simply publicity agents, cranking out all manner of misleading, false, and deceptive articles in order to aid the Democrats and hinder the Republicans. The most amazing thing about it is that, here, roughly 9 months after the election, they are still in full attack mode on the losing VP candidate. This is utterly insane! But it tells us a lot about their (total lack of) objectivity.

There is that tiresome phrase, "crossed a line," again. Who knew that there were so many lines available to be crossed?

Very good comment, Alanorei. Your list of gods and devils was very interesting.

Thanks, Dr. D.

The MSM in the US is rightly called the news mafia, I believe.

Alanorei, I had not heard the term "news mafia" but it fits quite well.

We turn the TV on every night at 10 pm to get the local weather. Otherwise, it stays off, unless we watch a DVD on the set. All our news comes off the internet.

Thanks, Dr D.

I first saw the term 'news mafia' used by Baptist evangelist, Dr Sam Gipp, on his site. He compares the US MSM with Islam in his January 2006 newsletter, indicating they both hate the US and love anything that hurts or subverts the US.

Your use of the television is very wise.
